Highway 48 Compost Application
Sierra Contracting Inc. has started a compost application project on Highway 48 outside of Ruidoso, NM. The project involves the application of compost to barren hillsides and ditches. The area recently experienced heavy construction and the compost will provide a solid base for planned revitalization of the natural vegetation.
In the pictures above, compost is applied via a blower truck to steep hillsides.
Once applied, the compost provides a steep slope stabilization alternative to the conventional matting commonly used in this area.

Here some beautiful sunflowers have appeared on sprayed hillsides during heavy monsoon rains just one month after the first compost application.

Sierra Contracting in partnership with the NMDOT uses recycled forest waste for all compost manufacturing. The high grade compost is produced with a specific formula and is tested for quality before any application.
